Psycho Sign About the Student Learning Mathematics

The Question

A piece of land which parallelogram shaped and 96 meters cubic area wide. If the difference of the length and the width is a half of the width, how far the diagonal of this land ?

My Opinion About This Question

I think that fact this question is the difficult enough question for student class X senior high school. But, this question presented which story about the land and make this question feel difficult, because to understanding this question need a logical thinking. Not all student can define the means of this question. Just the student which genius or diligent which can solve this question.

This question is about square equation.

1. My Research to The Responder

I have 3 questions about mathematic which same difficulties level. The responder is my neighbor, so is easy to me meet her in her house. From these questions, she chooses this question. When she does this question, I see that she does it easily, she does not interrupt.

2. My Interview to the Responder

I also give her some question about her enthusiasm for mathematics.

Me : Do you like mathematic

Responder : When I was in junior high school, I like Mathematics so much. But now, I just rather like Mathematics.

Me : Why it happen?

Responder : When in Junior High Scholl, my teacher is kind, nice, and friendly. She also can teach clearly, so I really understand about the lesson.

Me : How about your mark when taught by this nice teacher?

Responder : My mark is good, in examination I often got 90 even 100. But it not caused by cheat, I get it because of I really understand about the lesson of study.

Responder : Oh yeah I see.

Me : By the way, why do you dislike mathematics now?

Responder : In fact, I still like Mathematics, but my teacher in my Senior High School less my felling.

Me : Why it happen?

Responder : My teacher explanation in front of the class is not clearly, so I must repeat the lesson by myself in home.

Me : Anything else about the reason?

Responder : My teacher just paying attention to the bright student, she never give the question to other students. She assuming as if just there are two students in the class, and the other students is not minded.

3. My Responder Work

consider that

y = the length of the land

x= the width of the land

d = the diagonal of the land

L=the area of the land

Have known that : y-x = ½ x

y = 3/2 x

the solution

L=x.y

L=x (3/2x)

L=3/2 x²

We also know that L=96,so

3/2 x²=96

x²=64

x=8

y=3/2x, so y = 3/2 (8) = 12

Now, we must consider the diagonal (d)

d²=x²+y²

d²=(8)²+(12)²

d=4

so now we know that the diagonal of the land is 4 meters
